Rector Akman Attends Turkish Folk Music Concert
Rector Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Akman, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Hülya Akman, attended the concert performed by artists of the Sivas State Turkish Folk Music Choir of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism at our University’s Rectorate Conference Hall.
Organised by the Kilis Governorship, the concert brought popular works of Turkish folk music together with art lovers. Sivas State Turkish Folk Music Choir artists Ezgi Yerlikaya, Gizem Samsa, and Sait Döşkaya presented audiences with selected examples from the rich melodic tradition of Turkish folk music.
Featuring folk songs from different regions, the programme once again highlighted the unifying power of music and the importance of preserving and sustaining the traditional values that form an essential part of our cultural heritage.
Rector Akman thanked the Kilis Governorship and the performing artists for their contributions to the organisation of the concert, emphasising the important role of such cultural and artistic events in enriching the social and cultural life of the city.
