“Being a Student in Gaza” Exhibition Opened at Our University
The exhibition titled “Being a Student in Gaza,” prepared by our University’s Office of Science Communication, brought into focus the experiences of Gazan students striving to continue their education under the shadow of war through a striking selection of photographs.
With no opening ceremony or speeches, the exhibition allowed the photographs to speak for themselves. Our students were left face to face with images reflecting the conditions under which education continues in Gaza, unfinished classrooms, and students trying to hold on to the future despite all difficulties.
The photographs featured in the exhibition revealed how a school, a desk, a book, and the right to education take on entirely different meanings in the midst of war. Visitors had the opportunity to interpret the story carried by each frame through their own emotions and reflections.
With its atmosphere in which words receded and photographs became a powerful form of witness, the “Being a Student in Gaza” exhibition drew attention to the deep marks that war leaves on the educational lives of children and young people.
